"In a single brief sentence, answer the question, 'Why are we here?"

This question 'cuts to the chase'. It enables participants to use their own words to describe their expectations (or lack of them) during the opening part of a session. Responses to this question can clarify perspectives and ensure that everyone is on the same track before getting into the main part of a process.
