Ask "What do you want to be thinking as you head
out the door at the end of the day?” or “If you were
facilitating this session, what would you want to make
sure happened"

Use this question when you want to clarify expectations during participant introductions at a session and you don’t want to use that old chestnut about hopes and concerns. This question also works well in a pre-session needs assessment survey.

See Making Questions Work: Chapter 4, “Questions for Opening a Session”, p 80-81.

Making Questions Work

"For public-policy advocates and other such issue strategists, Making Questions Work is a valuable exploration tool in the never-ending search for the solutions, compromises, and agreements that are the stuff of government and community decision making."
