    Check out the International Association of Facilitators 2010 Conference in Chicago!
    There are over 60 workshop sessions centered around this year’s theme of “Collaboration in Action” all taking place in one week: April 20-23, 2010.

    Dorothy will be presenting two workshops:

    Facilitating in Difficult Situations: Prevention, Intervention, Reflection
    (April 21 pre-conference session)
    Objectives of this session are to:

    • Identify what makes situations difficult for facilitators
    • Learn and apply a “forget-me-not” prompter for preventing difficult situations
    • Learn and apply a framework for intervening in difficult situations at key stages of a process
    • Use a reflective tool for gaining insight into how you want to address difficult situations in the future.

    Great Openings and Closings: 2 Frameworks and 100 Questions that Really Work
    (April 22 concurrent session included in registration fee)
    Objectives of this session are to:

    • Understand, learn and practice using 2 process frameworks for designing and facilitating openings and closings for sessions
    • Select or develop questions to support facilitation of these 2 process frameworks for an upcoming event you are facilitating
    • Become comfortable using the workshop handout (2 frameworks, practice guidelines and 100 questions) to plan openings and closings for an event
    • Value a thoughtful and critically reflective approach to asking questions in service of healthy, ethical, collaborative and productive group processes

    Dorothy’s books (listed below) will all be available at the bookstore throughout the conference.

    "Making Questions Work" Session Next Week!
    On Tuesday evening, November 10, Dorothy will be doing a special evening session for the Canadian Society for Training and Development (CSTD) at Conestoga College (Waterloo) for facilitators/trainers. The session will focus on "Making Questions Work" in training situations.

    The IAF Canada Tour 2009!

    One Workshop, Two Leading Facilitators, Two Books, Four locations - Priceless insights with Dorothy Strachan and Marian Pitters

    Organized by the International Association of Facilitators, this is a must-participate professional development event for facilitators in a broad range of situations:  consultants, managers, coaches, educators, event planners and others who facilitate groups.

  • First International Association of Facilitators Eastern Canada Tour with Dorothy Strachan and Sandy Schuman.
    • Two days with two celebrated facilitators from two countries using two great books on two topics:
      “Making Questions Work” and “Working with Difficult Groups”

    • Registration for this first IAF Canada Tour 2008 is now open. Respected IAF members and internationally-recognized facilitators Dorothy Strachan and Sandy Schuman will be leading their two-day workshop in:
